Mrs. Virginia Ann Collins, 67, died on Thursday, August 16, 2012, in Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia. Funeral services will be held in Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Journet & Bolden Funeral Home in New Iberia. Visitation will begin at 7 a.m. at Journet & Bolden Funeral Home until services.

Mrs. Virginia is survived by five sons Stephen Collins of Lafayette, Marcus Collins and Brian Collins, both of New Iberia, Kevin Collins of Baton Rouge and Anthony Vital of Alpaca, Texas; four daughters Marcella Curry, Otharee C. Loston, Rhonda Collins, all of New Iberia, and Mazy V. Collins of Birmingham, Ala.; four brothers Joseph Collins, Edward Collins, Alfred Martin of New Iberia and Slyvester Collins of Tacoma, Wash.; two sisters Linda Martin and Julia Martin of New Iberia; Stevie Jay Vital and Brianna McCoy, who she reared as her own; and good friends Mindy and Paul Doerle Jr.; 33 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel M. Decuir; her father, Joseph Collins Sr.; sisters Ethel Martin and Katherine Decuir; two brothers Louis Collins and Leroy Martin; sons Patrick (Peanut) G. Collins, Troy N. Collins and Joseph Vital.

The family prefers memorials to St. Jude Research Hospital in the name of Markell Gregoire in Memphis, TN 38105, for his continual care.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Collins, Edward Collins, Olivier Walker, Olivier Lockette, Lawrence Loston, Warren Curry Jr., Alfred Martin, Kante Martin, Terrance Martin, Carlos Martin, Deontre Williams, Deondre Williams and Slyvester Collins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Collins, Kevin Collins, Marcus Collins, Neuville Collins, Stevie Jay Vital, Patrick Conner, Kevin Collins Jr., Milton Alexander III, Courtland Collins, Marcus Cormier, Trevor Ledet, Marcus Collins Jr., Markell Gregoire, Mekhi Gregoire, Cavah Collins and NaJee Anthony.
