Ernest “Topper” Breaux, Jr.

New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church, for Ernest “Topper” Breaux, Jr. On October 3, 2024, Topper achieved final victory in the promises of Christ.

Entombment will follow in the Church Mausoleum.

Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant.

Visitation will be held at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church on Tuesday, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 10:00 am on Tuesday.

Ernest’s passions include family, friends, cooking, sports, old westerns, and many forms of outdoor and motorhome adventures.  He loved south Louisiana and its people especially his church community of Nativity of Our Lady.  His career spans a lifetime of commitment to Ernest P. Breaux Electrical, its families, customers, partners, and namely its apprenticeship training program.  Some notable organizations Ernest took great interest in are the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the National Electrical Contractors Association, the Associated Builders and Contractors, the Iberia Industrial Development Foundation, the IBERIABANK board of directors, and the Community Foundation of Acadiana.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to his family and community.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lillian Lancon Breaux; children, Ernest Paul Breaux, III (Christina), Timothy James Breaux (Rebecca), and Amy Elizabeth Vidrine (William); grandchildren, Ernest Paul Breaux, IV (fiancé Malerie), Lizabeth Suzanne Breaux, Ethan Joseph Breaux (Faith), Zachary Thomas Breaux, Isabel Grace Breaux, Chloe Violet Vidrine, Caroline Vidrine, Nicole Bynum Fegan (George), Katie Bynum Alvarez (Fernando), and Bill Bynum; great grandchildren, Charlie Fegan, Harrison Fegan, and Madeline Fegan; sisters, Kathleen Byrom (Preston) and Linda Veazey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Paul Breaux, Sr, and Theonie Ozenne Breaux, and his brothers, Tommy Breaux, Sr. and Joseph Breaux.
