Cayden Lancelin, Westgate Football
Freshman Cayden Lancelin had every excuse to panic when Westgate faced off against STM last week. With several players out due to injury, including both the starting and backup QBs, Lancelin was thrown into the fire and came out unscathed. Lancelin went 2-for-4 in passing for 41 yards against the 2023 Division II Select state champs.

Joseph Leblanc, Catholic High Football
LeBlanc racked up 177 yards and two TDs from 11 catches as the Panthers picked up yet another win, this time against Lake Charles College Prep. LeBlanc, who also serves as the Panthers’ punter, scored twice in the second quarter to give CHS a lead they never relinquished en route to the team’s fourth win of the season.

Quintin Martin, Highland Baptist Football
Martin, one of five seniors on the Bears’ roster, played several positions on both sides of the ball for HBCS in their homecoming game against Delcambre. With only two practices at QB before the game, Martin was expectedly uncertain under center, but the senior put in solid performances in every position he played.

Kayden St. Julien, NISH Football
St. Julien led the Yellow Jackets offense with 81 rushing yards from 13 carries against Carencro last week.

Genesis Tolentino, Delcambre Football
Tolentino’s pair of nine-yard rushing TDs doubled the lead for Delcambre over Highland Baptist on Friday, helping the Panthers secure another win and moving the team to 3-2 on the season. Tolentino ended the game with 54 yards and two TDs from seven carries.

Female Athlete of the Week

Riley Antoine, Westgate Volleyball
Antoine currently ranks No. 4 in the state for aces this season, but she isn’t just dominant at the serve. With 67 assists, 49 aces and 30 kills this season, the senior plays her role to perfection for the Lady Tigers, who currently have a 9-9 record ahead of Tuesday’s matchup with St. Thomas More (19-0).

Addisyn Derouen, Catholic High Volleyball
Sophomore Addisyn Derouen didn’t let homecoming week activities distract her last week as she racked up 7 kills, 5 aces and 16 digs against Ascension Episocopal and Cecilia. The Lady Panthers are currently 14-4 on the season as they look to make another appearance at the LHSAA State Volleyball Tournament in 2024.
