North Street Elementary 4-H October meeting

The North Street Elementary 4-H Club installed the officers for the 2013 -2014 school year. They are president, Taharah Patin; vice president, Kayla Giondelone; secretary, Iyanla Gibson; treasurer, Raven Cormier; community service chairperson, Dewaune Lee; and reporter, Kenzie Gray.

At the October meeting, members were shown a demonstration by Aayanna Coleman and Taviana Alexander on how to make Ghostly Pops, a Halloween treat. Awards were given to Sugar Cookery winners Kaitlyn Guidry, who won third in the Fudge Category; Raven Cormier, who won a blue ribbon in Any Other Cookie category; Katelynn Landry, who won a red ribbon in the Any Other Cookie category; and Rileigh Jones, who won a red ribbon in the Chocolate Chip Cookie category.

Members discussed the six pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship with the 4-H agent while learning about chocolate.

Students were encouraged to attend the parish 4-H Fall Fun Day, which was held at Iberia Middle School on Saturday, Nov. 2.
