A Home Going Celebration will be held for Edward “Sut” Battle, 64, at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014, at Fletcher Funeral Home, New Iberia, with the Rev. Harold Antoine officiating.
He will await the resurrection at St. Matthew Cemetery, New Iberia.
A gathering of family and friends will be at the funeral home on 7:30 a.m. until the time of service.
A native of Weeks Island and resident of New Iberia, he passed at 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Iberia Medical Center.
He leaves to cherish his memory and in God’s care two sons Edward Darokey (Jamica) of Lafayette and Marques Hensley of New Iberia; and stepson David Darokey of New Iberia; one daughter Leandrea Hensley of New Iberia; three brothers James Battle of Houston, Alfred Battle and Albert Battle of New Iberia; five sisters Mary Lou Battle, Sheryl Ann Brown, Sandra Ann Ledet, Florestine Vangurer and Sylvia Ann Williams, all of New Iberia; 10 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He now joins in glory with his parents, Webster Battle Sr. and Jennie Louise Battle; companion Shirley Hensley; and brothers Eddy Nelson, Webster Battle Jr., Joseph Battle and Joe Willie Battle Sr.
