ST. MARTINVILLE — A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Michael James Theriot, 63, who passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday.

The Rev. Rusty Richard will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Tootie Theriot and Debbie Melancon. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Broussard.

Michael enjoyed cooking and loved to sing karaoke, but he especially loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

He is survived by two sons Corie James Theriot of Lafayette and Michael Christopher Theriot and wife, Michelle, of Youngsville; his daughter Maggie Theriot of Broussard; four brothers Richard Theriot and wife, Tootie, Melvin “Mitch” Theriot and wife, Sadie, all of St. Martinville, Herman Theriot and wife, Jackie, of Erath and Robert “Bobby” Theriot and wife, Linda, of Broussard; 11 sisters Irene Delcambre, Sr. Maura Theriot, Velma Bienvenu and husband, Pete, Beverly Judice and husband, Luther, all of St. Martinville, Marian Judice and husband, Coston, of Broussard, Rachael Richard and husband, Arthur Ray, of Nederland, Texas, Debbie Melancon, Liz Blanchard and husband, Donald, Julie Ducrest and husband, Mark, Cindy Castellano and husband, Rudy, all of St. Martinville, and Leora Wilcox and husband, Taylor, of Winnie, Texas; eight grandchildren Sadie Saintignan, Corie Theriot Jr., Logan Theriot, Camryn Theriot, Caden Theriot, Collin Theriot, Maddison Claire Theriot and Griffin Theriot.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Homer and Mary Gladyes Landry Theriot; two grandsons Bentlee Guidry and Collin James Theriot; one nephew Mitchell “T-Mitch” Theriot; his brother-in-law Curtis “Smiley” Melancon; and his niece Renée Bienvenu.

Pallbearers will be Richard Theriot, Melvin “Mitch” Theriot, Herman Theriot, Robert “Bobby” Theriot, Donny Blanchard and Jeff Melancon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Castellano, Ian Blanchard, Rusty Castellano, Freddie Melancon, Paul Melancon, Robert Theriot, Jacob Theriot, Richie Theriot, Brody Theriot, Art Richard, Brent Richard, Craig Theriot, Lynn Bienvenu, Jimbo Bienvenu, Jason Judice, Jonathan Judice, Judd Judice, Tommy Delcambre, Hal Delcambre, Scott Delcambre, Terrence Delcambre, Chad Theriot and Tré Theriot.
