Lynn was born June 9, 1952, in Port Huron, Michigan, to the late Archie Haynes and Beverly Jean Reese Haynes. On Saturday, April 25, 2015, Lynn passed away peacefully, with her family at her side.
Lynn was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, a homemaker and dear friend to many. She was known for having a generous and kind heart and a willingness to help anyone in need. She loved being out on the water, whether it was fishing or just riding in the boat. Lynn also had a passion for cooking and it was often said that a woman from Michigan was not supposed to make a better etouffee than a Cajun, but hers was just that. But what was most dear to her was her family. She cherished the time spent with them and leaves behind many fond memories.
She will be missed dearly.
Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Randy J. Melancon of Delcambre; her son, Jeffery David and wife Alta of Delcambre; her step-children, Norma Harman and husband Matt, Mark Melancon and wife Kerry, and Brock Melancon and wife Taneil all of Breaux Bridge; nine grandchildren, Taylor, Braxton and Sadie David, Brannigan and Lochlan Harman, Morgan and Scout Melancon, and Nole and Gia Bella Melancon; and brother and sister, David Haynes and wife Becki and Judith Ann Smith of Killen, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be Jeffery David, David Haynes, Randy Fullerton, Billy Richard, Mark Melancon, Brock Melancon and Gavin Seneca. Braxton David will be honorary pallbearer.
The family would like to express the heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Gonzales and 5th and 4th floor staff and University Hospital in Lafayette for their care and compassion. They would also like to thank their Pastor and dear friend, the Rev. Ed Downs, for his endless support and friendship.
