Erath, Loreauville schools among highest-ranked in state

Several Teche Area schools have been listed among some of the best schools in the state.
Niche, a company founded in 2002 by Carnegie Mellon University, ranks schools in the country with a methodology based on various government and public data sets, Niche’s own proprietary data and 4,625,277 opinion-based survey responses across a variety of topics from 287,560 current students, recent alumni, and parents.
Out of the hundreds of listed schools, Erath High School was listed as number 21 for best high school in the state. The school was given an overall Niche grade of B+. Niche listed the average graduation of Erath High School as 87 percent. The national average is 81 percent and the state average is 73.4 percent.
Erath was listed the following grades by Niche: Academics: A-, Health and Safety: C+, Student Culture and Diversity: C+, Teachers B+, Resources and Facilities: B, Extracurriculars and Activities: B and Sports and Fitness: B.
Loreauville High School placed 67th on the list. The average graduation rate was placed at 74.5 percent which is lower than the national average of 81 percent but higher than the Louisiana average of 73.4 percent.
The following grades were given for Loreauville High: Academics: B+, Health & Safety: C+, Student Culture and Diversity: B+, Teachers: B, Resources and Facilities: C and Extracurriculars and Activities: B-.
Franklin Senior High School was ranked 213, St. Martinville Senior High: 194, Centerville High School: 168 and West St. Mary High School: 185.
State rankings for other Teche Area schools are as follows: New Iberia Senior High, 135, Westgate High School, 151, Delcambre High School, 115, Jeanerette Senior High School, 226.
A separate list ranked private schools in Louisiana in the same fashion. Assembly Christian School ranked number 10 on the list.
The school was given a B in academics and A- in student culture and diversity.
The school’s graduation rate was not listed but Assembly Christian School was found to have an average ACT score of 27, beating the national average of 26 by one point and the state average of 24 by three points.
Highland Baptist Christian School was ranked 66 on the list of Best Private High Schools. The school received an Academics grade of C+ and Student Culture and Diversity grade of C+. The school’s ACT average was 25, one point below the national average of 26 and one point above the state average of 24.
