FSH graduates 90 on Friday

Franklin Senior High School will graduate 90 seniors when commencement exercises are held at 6 p.m. Friday in the school gymnasium.

Leading honor graduates for the school are Ne’Keiah Gibson, Landon D. Landry and Natalie Hughes.

Gibson, the daughter of Nicole and Frederick Gibson of Franklin, will graduate with a grade point average of 3.98.

While in high school, she was a member of the Lady Hornets volleyball and softball teams, the cheerleading squad and was manager of the baseball and basketball teams. She also was a member of the National Honor Society and was enrolled in the gifted program.

She is the recipient of the Rotary Club scholarship, Chambers of Commerce scholarship, Hilcorp Energy scholarship, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority scholarship, and a full scholarship from Xavier University. She also was recognized as Best Overall Dancer in 2014 at SCA Camp and a Word Millionaire.

After graduation, Gibson plans to attend Xavier University of Louisiana and major in biology/pre-med with hopes of becoming a cardiologist.

Landry, the son of Scott and Kara Landry of Franklin, will graduate with a GPA of 3.9.

In high school, he was a member of the National Honor Society, FBLA club, the Rocket Team and Meat Processing program.

He has received the TOPS Performance Award.

After graduation, Landry plans to attend Louisiana Tech University and major in mechanical engineering with hopes of designing and testing tools for several industries.

Hughes, the daughter of Wanda and Donald Hughes of Jeanerette, will graduate with a GPA of 3.88.

During her high school years, she was a member of the National Honor Society, Homecoming / Prom Committee and participated in theater. She also was assistant baseball manager and an elementary tutor. She has been awarded full tuition with a Xavier University Merit Scholarship and St. Mary Parish Michael Payton Memorial Scholarship.

After graduation, Hughes plans to attend Xavier University of Louisiana and major in chemistry with hopes of becoming a chemical engineer, certified by the American Chemical Society.
