LHS students win national honors

The National Beta Club announced that Hannah Bryon and Baylor Chastant have been named Beta Scholars, which entitles each to a scholarship award of $1,000.
The 2016 graduates of Loreauville High School are two of 226 recipients out of 73,278 12th-grade members of the National Beta Club. Both are attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
The two were recommended for the award by the local Beta Club sponsor, Maria Brodie and LHS principal Karen Bashay.
Bryon is the daughter of Jennifer Decuir and the granddaughter of Sandra Decuir. Baylor is the daughter of Marcie and Bill Chastant.
The National Beta Club is the nation’s largest independent youth organization. Since its 1934 inception, Beta Club has been committed to providing students with a positive experience in a supportive manner according to a statement from the Beta Club.
The organization recognizes academic achievement, encourages service to others, and promotes the development of good character and leadership skills. There are over 8,500 chapters across the U.S.
