Memorial services celebrating the life of Norman Sidwell, 76, will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017, in the Chapel of Louisiana Funeral Services & Crematory, 108 Hardware Road Broussard. The family will receive visitors beginning at 4 p.m. until time of services at 6 p.m.
Norman K. Sidwell was born September 1, 1941, in New Castle, Indiana to the late Eddward Sidwell and Jeanette Barnett Sidwell. He passed away on the afternoon of Sunday, October 15, 2017, at his residence in New Iberia, with his loving family by his side.
Norman loved anything to do with being outdoors and nature. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and taking trips to the casino. Times with his family was truly treasured. He had a big heart and enjoyed helping others and giving of himself when needed. We will certainly miss his joyful spirit and happy personality.
Norman Sidwell is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 28 years, JoAnn Sidwell, of New Iberia; children Scott Sidwell of New Castle, Indiana, Shelia Sidwell Stigall of New Castle, Indiana, Sybil, (Jim), Thomas, Sheryl, (Scott), Russo, Michelle, (Mark), Robicheaux, Tina Trahan and Stacy Carr; brothers Doug Sidwell and Jack Sidwell, sisters-in-law Kim, (Corwin), Broussard, Jan, (Reggie), Viator; and a brother-in-law Joseph Viator. He also leaves a lasting legacy with 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Norman now reunites in his heavenly home with his parents, Eddward and Jeanette Sidwell; brothers Roger Sidwell, Mike Sidwell and Kenny Sidwell; and daughter Wendy Trahan Primeaux; his father-in-law Dophie Viator; mother-in-law Lillian Viator; brothers-in-law Reggie Viator and Terry Viator Sr.; sisters-in-law Sally, (Joseph), Viator and Nancy, (Terry), Viator Sr.; nephew Terry “Pat” Viator Jr.; and great-nephew Ricky Louviere Jr.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Bridgeway Hospice for the care and assistance that they provided to make Norman’s last days ones of comfort. Also thank you to Andy and the staff of Soileau’s Pharmacy for their continued support.
