Daniel John Louviere passed away peacefully Friday, October 20, 2017, at Pointe Coupee General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was 60.

Daniel was born December 12, 1956, in New Iberia to the late Edward Peter Louviere and the late Daisy Delcambre Louviere. He loved animals and raised quail and chickens, and made some of the best pickled quail eggs around. One of his favorite pastimes was playing pool and he never backed down from a challenge to shoot a game with someone.

Daniel was also a jokester and loved to make people laugh. He had a kind heart and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include his siblings, Miriam Smith, Gloria Perez and husband Carl, Angela Andre’, Nancy Marsh and husband Jerry, Wayne Louviere and wife Rita Lou, Gene Louviere and James Louviere; a sister-in-law, Mary Dell Louviere; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenward, Timothy and Glen Louviere; and two brothers-in-law, Patrick Smith and Mark “Red” Andre.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staffs of Pointe Coupee Hospice, Pointe Coupee Healthcare Services and Pointe Coupee General Hospital for the friendship, care and compassion shown to our brother.
