FRANKLIN — Highland Baptist Christian School quarterback Myles Liggans threw for 247 yards and six touchdowns, both school records, as the Bears rallied from a 19-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat Hanson Memorial School 47-39 in a District 7-A football game Thursday at Hanson’s McCloskey Field.

Highland scored 27 points in the last seven minutes to win.

Highland’s Matt Napier had a school-record four TD catches, the last of which put HBCS up 40-39 with 2:31 to go in the fourth quarter.

After Hanson failed to recover the kickoff, Brontre Griffin sealed the win for Highland with a 42-yard touchdown run with 2:04 left.

Griffin finished with 120 yards on 16 rushes.

Napier sealed the win with an interception in the end zone with a minute left as the Tigers drove inside the 5 looking to tie the score. The loss spoiled Hanson quarterback Mason Mendoza’s night. Mendoza completed 19 of 36 pass attempts for 226 yards and three touchdowns.

Hanson led 25-20 at halftime and took a 32-20 lead with 2:45 left in the third quarter on a 32-yard touchdown pass from Mendoza to Jacob Srigley. Highland had taken a 13-12 lead before Brian Sonnier returned the ensuing kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown and an 18-13 HMS lead.
