New Iberia’s Boba Haus Milktea recently opened its doors in the Teche Area.

Boba Haus Milktea is where passion meets perfection. The restaurant officially opened on March 12, 2024. Owner Vu Vu, a native of Vietnam, said he wanted to bring something new and different to the area.

“For me personally, I think New Iberia has a very good population and a lot of times it gets overlooked,” Vu said.

The Boba Haus Milktea shop is located at 715 E Admiral Doyle Dr, Suite E, where they sell milktea, smoothies, coffee, and more.

“We have a variety of drinks for everyone,” Vu said. “One of our main sellers is our Boba tea, which is a combination of milk and tea.”

Boba Haus Milktea allows you to customize your entire order, from the type of tea you prefer, to the sweetness and ice levels. And it’s not just milkteas that are available. They have six signature drinks, not to mention menotine refreshers and slushies and even a wide range of sweets to eat with your drink.

According to Vu, bubble tea is a tea-based drink that originated in Taiwan in the early 80s. The tea consists of a cold, frothy drink made with a tea base shaken with flavors, sweeteners or milk with tapioca pearls at the base of the drink.

Boba Haus Milktea has four different bases of tea that they use for their drinks: Thai tea, oolong tea, jasmine green tea, and black tea.

“The drink consists of the tea base with milk in there, with sugar,” Vu said. “The milk tea comes with the tapioca pearls. When you drink it, you can chew on the tapioca pearls, so it’s fun to drink it.”

The combination of the drinks, sweets and the warm and inviting environment at Boba Haus Milktea gives you the sense that you want to stop there with your friends and family and enjoy a tasty treat, Vu said.

For the time they have been opened, Vu said Boba Haus Milktea has been overwhelmed with the support from the community. People were excited with anticipation for the opening at Boba Haus Milktea.

Vu added that was his goal when he decided to open his Boba Haus Milktea in New Iberia. He wanted it to be a central hub for everyone to enjoy.

“If you want to bring your laptop, you can come here to work or study,” Vu said. “I want to create a spot where people can come in and enjoy and hang out.”
