Council to review budget recommendations

The St. Mary Parish Council will move forward with recommendations from the parish’s finance committee to make anticipated budget adjustments for the 2024 budget at Wednesday’s meeting.
The council discussed the need for cuts during the finance committee meeting that took place this week, and the proposals made will come before the council Wednesday. The proposal will exclude the elimination of safety awards in the amount of $4,000 and allocations to outside agencies by 25 percent, according to the agenda.
In other business, the council will vote to approve and authorize the parish president to execute an amendment to the professional services agreement with Aptim Environmental and Infrastructure relative to the RESTORE Act Administrative Services.
A resolution to authorize the parish president to execute an agreement to the lowest bidder for the Kemper Williams Park turf insulation on the baseball field is also on the agenda.
Another resolution pertaining to the application for the Local Government Assistance Program for replacement and improvements to heating and air conditioning improvements at the Council on Aging Center in Morgan City will be discussed as well.
Hal Titus will appear before the council to discuss road maintenance on the Charenton Levee during the meeting as well. Registrar of Voters Terri Foulcard will also appear before the council to discuss and address personnel issues with the chief administrative officer.
The meeting takes place 6 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse.
