Family First Grieving to give away over 200 meals for Thanksgiving

Family First Grieving will have over 200 meals to giveaway to local families Nov. 18 at Royal Elite at 235 W. Pershing Street.
Starting at 12 p.m., families can get a meal made of baked chicken, rice dressing, pork ‘n’ beans, a roll and a drink. According to CEO Triscette Willis, her volunteers stepped up to prepare for the Thanksgiving giveaway. She also received cake donations from different members of the community.
During her Halloween event, Willis told her group about her plan for Thanksgiving, but they countered, telling her to sit back and take it easy this time.
“They said, ‘We don’t want you to cry and it’s our turn to show you love the way you’re showing everyone else love.’ I came home and cried because I just didn’t expect that and I’m really trying to show love for my community from my heart. This is everything to me,” Willis said.
Willis said she’s very proud of the community of volunteers that she’s made in New Iberia who are willing to go the extra mile.
“They support me with no questions and they are always so ready to give back when it’s time,” Willis concluded.
