Iberia Parish Councilwoman elected as president of Police Jury Association Black Caucus

The Police Jury Association of Louisiana (PJAL) celebrated 100 years and Iberia Parish Councilwoman Lady Fontenette Brown led PJAL Black Caucus at the Centennial Conference
During the recent centennial conference of the Police Jury Association of Louisiana held in Lake Charles from Feb. 28 to March 1, Iberia Parish Councilwoman Lady Fontenette Brown was elected as a leader among the organization. Her election as President of the PJAL Black Caucus not only marked a significant achievement but also granted her a role on the executive board of the organization.
The conference, coinciding with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of PJAL, witnessed a gathering of over 800 police jurors, fostering lengthy discussions on pivotal issues. Topics spanned collaborative ventures with Governor Jeff Landry, addressing concerns such as insurance, flood control and infrastructure. This engagement underscored PJAL’s ongoing commitment to tackling challenges within Louisiana communities.
As the events distinguished speaker, Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser shed light on the critical role played by the Office of Tourism in Louisiana’s development. Nungesser accentuated their dedication to cleanliness, crime reduction and community fortification which highlighted their integral contribution to the thriving tourism sector.
Acknowledged for his outstanding service, Former Iberia Parish District 10 Councilman Eugene Oliver was recognized as the 2nd Vice Chair, further enriching the depth of accomplishments celebrated during the conference.
