The New Iberia Garden Club is excited to award the June Garden of the Month to Jeff and Blaze Segura.

Their residence at 615 Terrell Court features many beautiful and colorful flowers including Petunias, Mandevilla, Lily of the Nile, Hibiscus’, Sunpatiens, Ginger, Bottlebrush, Foxtail Fern, and Red Sister Cordyline. The featured Little Gem Magnolias are stunning in the landscape.

Blaze enjoys maintaining their flowerbeds and yard.

Horticultural Hints: Oh my, weather patterns have been surprising! These microbursts are becoming more frequent. The rainfall with the wind storms have damaged some of our delicate flowers, especially in-ground Petunias  and Impatiens.

This month Daylilies and Curcumas (Siam Lilies) are in full bloom and Roses continue to show off their beauty. Summer heat attracts many pests in your garden, but bug repellents can be purchased at your local nursery.

Container grown plantings have become very popular, especially all the beautiful colors and shapes. Your container planting requires a little more attention and fertilizer and even light pruning to maintain its growth pattern. Scheduled watering is recommended since flowerpots dry up much quicker.
