Kiwanis Club of New Iberia’s 65 annual pancake supper will take place on Thursday, Nov. 16., once again serving the community.
Dine-in for the pancake supper will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. and the drive thru will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m at the Cyr Gates Community Center in New Iberia.
Tickets are $8 a person and can be purchased at the door for the supper. All proceeds will benefit the Kiwanis Club of New Iberia foundation.
Ryan Champagne has served as past president and is a current board member for the Kiwanis Club of New Iberia. He is helping to promote the club and everything they offer to the community. He joined the club in 2015. From the start, he loved being part of the club and wanted to do everything he could to help out the community of New Iberia.
The Kiwanis Club of New Iberia’s 65th annual pancake breakfast will have hot cakes, sausage, milk, and so much more. Harvey the Rabbit will be there to entertain the guests.
“We’ve done this for 65 years and it’s always been done at night and everyone seems to enjoy it because most of the time people have to work… so having it in the afternoon, you can bring your family after you get off of work,” Champagne said. “It just makes it really enjoyable.
The Kiwanis Club of New Iberia’s pancake supper is one of their biggest fundraising events for the organization. Their annual event allows them to raise enough money for them to do everything they can do to make the community of New Iberia that much better.
“It helps us be engaged with the children of the community,” Champagne said. “We award scholarships each year to three local students.”
The club helps put on the children’s parade each year, as well as being active in the Boys and Girls Club. During Christmas time, Champagne said they adopt a family to help out those in need for the holidays.
Living in a small town like New Iberia, Champagne said community support is vital for everyone to find a common way to band together to help out the children here.
“To show that you care, it’s one of the most important things,” Champagne said
Kiwanis Club of New Iberia started in January of 1935, and has impacted the community with their members, volunteers and supporters. And all these years later, they continue to do so.
Each year for their annual pancake supper, Champagne said he is very appreciative of the support of the community of New Iberia for the help and volunteering they receive. Lines of cars each year stretch from Marie street all the way to Duperier street. It is something that never gets old for Champagne and the Kiwanis Club of New Iberia.
“I love seeing all of the different families and kids interacting,” Champagne said.
