The Daily Iberian’s Managing Editor Matthew Louviere was named as one of Editor & Publisher Magazine’s Top 25 Under 35 Class of 2024, a designation that puts Louviere with some of the greatest up-and-coming names in news publishing.
The list recognizes young media professionals around the country who are paving the way in news publishing with talent, creativity and new ideas in the industry.
Louviere, a New Iberia native, was named as managing editor of The Daily Iberian in late 2023 and has been leading the newsroom as it makes its way into new frontiers of digital journalism and online publishing.
“I’m truly honored to be recognized alongside some of the brightest young journalists in the industry,” Louviere said. “Everyone at The Daily Iberian goes above and beyond to provide the Teche Area with the best community journalism around and I’m glad that the selection committee was able to see all the hard work that we do each day.”
This year’s slate of young media professionals included other familiar names to Louisiana journalism, including metro editor for The Advocate Matt Albright and investigative reporter Andrea Gallo, who has written for The Times-Picayune, The Advocate, The Acadiana Advocate and The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate.
Publisher for The Daily Iberian Ken Harty said Louviere’s accomplishment is proof of the quality work he has produced during his time at The Daily Iberian.
“I am proud of Matthew Louviere for all that he has accomplished in a very short time,” Harty said. “To be featured and honored by a national industry publication like Editor & Publisher is proof of the quality work that he does on a daily basis serving the community here at The Daily Iberian. As the publisher it is great to see his talent and attention to detail are recognized by peers in our industry. We are lucky to have him.”
