The New Iberia Police Department is investigating a Sunday homicide that left a 20-year-old victim dead.

According to a prepared statement, officers of the Uniformed Patrol Division responded at approximately 10 p.m. Sunday to the intersection of South Iberia Street and West Admiral Doyle Drive at the business of Amigo’s in reference to a shots fired complaint.

Upon responding to the scene, officers located a 20-year-old male victim who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing at this time, according to the NIPD.
