NIPD reports one dead following Shelton Avenue shooting

Last night at approximately 8:40 p.m., the New Iberia Police Department received a report of an individual shot in the 1000 block of Shelton Avenue.
The Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office has identified the vicitim as 20-year-old Deshune Johnlewis of New Iberia.
Officers and medics arrived on the scene and located a male, in his 20s, partially in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound. The individual was pronounced dead on the scene.
Detectives responded and took over the investigation.
