Jeanerette’s Krewe of Ezana rolled Sunday afternoon, with hundreds showing up to take part in the annual parade or watch it from the sidelines.
The parade had a unique route this year, starting on Main Street and then turning on Canal Street where it proceeded to Martin Luther King Drive and eventually turned back on Main Street.
The lineup for the parade was a party in itself, with participants playing music, driving ATVs and enjoying themselves before the parade proper kicked off.
“This is one of the best parades,” Baldwin resident Eric Champagne said at the start of the lineup. “I’ve got family and friends out here.”
The Krewe of Ezana Parade is the only parade in Jeanerette and manages to draw large numbers from both St. Mary Parish and Iberia Parish.
Along with the usual floats and dance schools, a large number of ATVs and golf carts were also out as people made themselves comfortable in downtown Jeanerette.
On the audience side, several event-goers brought out grills where they cooked with family and waited for the parade to roll through.
