Three things to do in and around New Iberia: New Year’s Celebrations

1. Annual City of Franklin New Year’s Celebration: Starts at 8 p.m. at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse

Celebrate the end of 2023 and the start of 2024 in Franklin with the lowering of the lamppost from the seven stories of the St. Mary Parish Courthouse at midnight. Festivities begin at 8 p.m.

The night will include several live performances and food. It is family-friendly and open to the public at no cost.

2. Ory Veillon at the Pecan Pie Bar Dec. 29 4-7 p.m.

Enjoy post-holiday tunes at the Pecan Pie Bar with Ory Veillon, a singer and songwriter out of Lafayette.

Veillon’s music is influenced by a variety of genres including rock, country, soul and blues. He will play during happy hour, which lasts from 3:15 to 5 p.m.

3. Shadow’s Holiday Harvest Home and Garden tour at the Shadows-on-the-Teche Dec. 28, 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Join the Shadows as they explore and share what the holidays meant to both the Weeks Family and the enslaved men and women on their plantation.

The exhibit is appropriate for the whole family. Admission is $10 for residents of New Iberia and free for children under six and “Friends of the Shadows”.
