Funeral services will be held for Mr. Darel Paul Roy, III, 18, on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Journet & Bolden Funeral Home, 711 S. Corinne Street, New Iberia, LA 70560. Pastor Geroy Scott Sr. will officiate the services. Interment will follow in the Sorrell Community Cemetery. Visitation will be observed from 8 a.m. until time of the services at Journet & Bolden Funeral Home. A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Roy passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Iberia Medical Center. Mr. Roy was a junior at Westgate High School. He was a people person who loved sports, dancing, eating and most importantly spending time with family and friends.
He leaves to cherish fond memories of life, his parents Quentilla Marie Marshall and Wilson Marshall, and Darel Paul Roy Jr. all of New Iberia; grandparents, Lorena Marie Singleton, and Sondra Dee Johnson, James Steward Jr. and Darel Paul Roy Sr, all of New Iberia; five sisters, Quiana Ma’Reshia Nathan Roy, Qua’Deria Ma’Rayshia Nathan Roy, Ki’Mora Lee’ Nathan Marshall, and Octavious Sonnier all of New Iberia, and Tierra Webb of Lafayette; four brothers, Daveyon Simon, Treveous Simon, and Darel Paul Roy, all of New Iberia, and Everette Bartley of Sherman, Texas; 11 uncles, Demarcus Nathan Sr., Manuel Nathan, Curtis Nathan Sr., Denzel Johnson, Brian Merrick, Herbert Merrick, Micheal Merrick, Thaddeus Bowie, Donald Washington, Kwan Phillips and Toussiant Johnson Jr.; four aunts, Cassandra Merrick, Crystal Phillips, Riva Barras, Toshika Fontenette, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Roy was preceded in death by his great-paternal grandparents, Mr. Leo Roy, and Mrs. Anna Mae Granger Roy, and Joseph Leonard Singleton Sr., and Ether G. Singleton; great-maternal grandparents, Mr. Manuel & Mrs. Lizzie Mae Lumpkin Sr. and James and Mary Steward Sr.; his grandmother, Virginia Ann August Nathan, one sister, Kelis Ja’Sayshia Marshall, and three uncles, Allen Phillips, Sidwin James Lumpkin, and Gerald Barras Jr., and a host of great uncles, great aunts, cousins and friends. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be family and friends.
