Donald Babineaux

Funeral Services will be conducted for Donald Wayne Babineaux, age 74, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at Evangeline Funeral Home with Fr. Keith Landry officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors by the Iberia Veteran’s Honor Guard.

Visitation will take place at Evangeline Funeral Home in New Iberia on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 11 a.m.

A native of New Iberia and resident of Lafayette, Mr. Babineaux passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Maison De Lafayette in Lafayette surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 29, 1944 to the late Adonis “A.D” Babineaux Sr. and Gloria Dugas Babineaux, Donald was one of five children. He proudly served his country in the United States National Guard for six years. 

Donald was honorably discharged in 1969 and earned a Marksman Badge for his outstanding service. Donald loved to travel and go camping. As members of the Good Sam Club, Donald and his wife, Sally, would often adventure together throughout the United States in their RV. He was also a lifetime member of La Re’union des Babineaux et Granger. He proudly served as president of the committee. 

Donald was an avid animal lover who always had cats and dogs. He truly was the life of the party and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sally Pesson Babineaux; brothers, Kenneth Babineaux and wife Dee and A.D. “Sonny” Babineaux Jr. and wife Jane; sisters, Judy Boudeloche and husband Philip and Linda Broussard and husband Mark; nieces, Beth Bourque and husband Mike, Amy Denise and husband Jason, and Jenee’ Broussard and husband Bruce; nephews, Jeremy Broussard and wife Catherine, Mark Broussard Jr. and wife Carolyn, and Ryan Ronsonet and wife Magen; five great nieces; 10 great nephews; and one great-great niece.

He was preceded in death his by his parents, A.D. Babineaux Sr. and Gloria Dugas Babineaux; paternal grandparents, Adonis Pierre and Nathalie Babineaux; maternal grandparents, Alfred and Olive Dugas; father-in-law, Sidney Pesson; and mother-in-law, Jewel Norton.

Pallbearers will be members and friends of the family.
