A gathering of family and friends will be held for James Curtis “Curt” Simmons, 57, on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Evangeline Funeral Home.

Visitation only will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday.

A native of Franklin and resident of Jeanerette, Curt passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at his residence.

Curt was a very generous person who enjoyed helping others. He was a tugboat captain for more than 30 years, enjoyed spending time on the water and riding his Harley Davidson.

He is survived by his mother, Joy Bergeron Wiltz, of Jeanerette; his father, Ray Curtis Simmons, and wife, Karen, of New Iberia; one sister Cathy Simmons of Jeanerette; one brother Ray G. Simmons and wife, Dawn, of Jeanerette; one half-brother Chase Simmons of New Iberia; nieces and nephews Ren, Katie, Shea, Rhett, Carly, Kyle, Lindy, Christopher and Kamryn Simmons; and his great-niece Amielle.
