Kerry “Coon” Louviere

Funeral services will be celebrated for Kerry “Coon” Louviere, 62, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Evangeline Funeral Home with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will be held privately at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday with a Rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. on Saturday until service time.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Coon passed away from a brief illness at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2017, at Lafayette General Medical Center. He was surrounded by his daughters at the time of his death. He was able to spend the weekend with friends and family before his passing.

Coon had an adventurous spirit and loved the outdoors. He was always outside where he enjoyed playing with his dogs, driving an air boat or being out on the water. Coon enjoyed woodworking and was a skilled carpenter. He was also a certified offshore boat captain, a profession that he was very proud of and enjoyed thoroughly. He was a loving father and grandfather who cherished his family above all else. He made friends wherever he went and was always the life of the party. Coon was known for going anywhere and everywhere barefoot. He will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughters Amalie Louviere Richard and husband Shannon of Katy, Texas, Hillary Louviere Broussard and husband Michael of New Iberia and Mallary Louviere of New Iberia; brothers Chris Louviere and wife Denise of New Iberia and Karl Louviere and wife Sherry of Georgia; sister Sara Fuselier and husband Dale of New Iberia; grandchildren Ethan and Kate Richard, Marlee and Stella Broussard and Huxley and Brixton Jones; and nephew and best friend Rusty Louviere.

He was preceded in death by his father, Melvert Pepper; parents Earline Picard Louviere and Oswald Louviere; and brother Jack Louviere.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Shannon Richard, Mike Broussard, Karl Louviere, Chris Louviere, Rusty Louviere, Joe Richard and John David Robicheaux.
