JEANERETTE — Mr. Ronald J. Stokes, a native of New Iberia and a resident of New Iberia, died on Sunday, January 26, 2014, in Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at St. John Baptist Church on 1244 Big Four Corner Road in Jeanerette. Visitation will begin at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Journet & Bolden Funeral Home, 711 S. Corinne Street in New Iberia. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum. Pastor David Jones will officiate.

Mr. Stokes is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lawana J. Stokes, of New Iberia; one son Rondon Redford (Courtney) of Houston; two daughters Laronna S. Williams (Derrien) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Ronika Stokes of New Iberia; one brother Junius Conway (Evelyn) of New Iberia; two sisters Virginia Stokes and Theresa Stokes, both New Iberia; two grandchildren Tre’Lunn Celestine and Parker Redford; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Hayes Stokes Sr. and Mrs. Elizabeth Kissack Stokes; three brothers Hayes Stokes Jr., Ruffins Stokes and Isaac Stokes; four sisters Catherine Stokes, Florence Alexander, Sylvia Stokes and Wanda Faye Stokes; and one niece Cheryl Stokes.

Pallbearers will be Tre’Lunn Celestine, Marcus Stokes, Ray Boutte Jr., Anthony Stokes, William Landry and Bashama Deal.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Family.
