Dugan, who plays safety and cornerback for the Tigers, did well at his first powerlifting meet.

Placing fifth out of nine lifters, Dugan managed to deadlift over three times his body weight.

Corgan Edler also performed well at the meet, lifting a total of 1,112 pounds. Despite weighing less than his competition, and being younger than many, Corgan still managed to secure a second place finish and increase his total lift more than 20 pounds from his previous total at an event in Mississippi.

The biggest winner of the day was the elder Edler. Tim Edler, 73, battled the flu and injuries to set four new records in the 110kg weight class. Tim lifted 203.9 pounds in the squat, 192.9 pounds in the bench press and 248 pounds in the deadlift for a total of 644.9 pounds.

The Edlers will return to action in November to close out the year.

Tim said that he intends to set records in his fourth separate weight class of 2022, this time dropping down to the 90kg weight class to finish the year with a “swell head.”
