SMPSB to discuss proclamations and field trips

CENTERVILLE — The St. Mary Parish School Board is scheduled to meet Thursday, items on the agenda include proclamations for the month of October which include Red Ribbon Week, (October 19-28) Bullying Prevention Month, and National School Lunch Week (October 15-18).

Other items to be discussed include approving bank resolutions authorizing signatories at various schools as a result of recent appointments,as well as permission to submit the Annual Financial Report to the State of Louisiana Department of Education of the year ending June 30, 2018.

Several field trips are up for approval that will take St. Mary students around the country to explore their extracurricular interests. Morgan City High School Fancy Dancers are scheduled to travel to U.S. Dance and Drill Team Championship in Orlando, Florida (March 7-11, 2019).

Franklin High School Future Farmers of America travel to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana (October 21-27, 2018) and West St. Mary High School Jobs for America’s Graduation travel to JAG National Student Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. (November 13-19, 2018).

The St. Mary Parish School Board is scheduled to hold its regular meeting Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 5 p.m. in the Evans Medine Meeting Room located at 474 Hwy 317, Centerville, La 70522.
