Everett Anthony Curol Sr.
A celebration of life for Everett Anthony Curol Sr., 82, a resident of Delcambre for 40 years, will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath at 11 a.m. A memorial will be held after the mass at the home of Jonathan and Emily Curol, 12018 LA Hwy. 339 in Erath.
Everett was born December 7, 1934, and entered into his eternal rest on Sunday, October 1, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
Everett was a shrimper and a tug boat captain who worked in the Gulf of Mexico, the Bahamas and the North Sea. He also worked for the Vermilion Parish Police Jury.
His hobbies were fishing on his Lafitte skiff and he also made hammocks from recycled fishing nets.
He was born, baptized, made his First Communion, Confirmation, married and had four children in Lafitte. He donated his body to science, and will return to Lafitte after his ashes are returned to his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Eleanor Collins Curol; his daughter Sophie C. Barraco and husband, Jim; his sons Everett Curol Jr. and his wife, Charlene, Perry Curol and wife, Janine and Barrett Monaco and wife, Aimee; his brother Freddie Prestonback and wife, Ella Mae; his sister Bessie C. Bailly; his brother-in-law Emile Simoneaux; daughter-in-law Terry Bates Curol; his grandchildren Joey Verdin, Brandon Taylor, Jonathan and wife, Emily Curol, Mandy Laviolette, Kristian and Brittany Bates and Mason, Madison and Brooklyn Monaco; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter due in February; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Aromise and Leonile Curol; his son Marlin Curol; his brother Oleus Curol; his sisters Elsie Curol Simoneaux and Sadie C. Schieffler; his in-laws Braglon and Lydia Collins; and his grandson Nicholas Curol.
The family would like to acknowledge the many people who cared for Everett. They would like to thank Dr. Ronald Lahasky, Dr. Michael S. Cain, Dr. Weston P. Miller III, Dr. Darwin Hale, the staff at Acadiana Home Health Care and the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospice.
