Therese Theriot Picard

A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted for Therese Theriot Picard, age 83, at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 7,  2019, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Korey LaVergne officiating.

Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday, with a Rosary at 6 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 9 a.m. on Monday until 1:30 p.m.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Picard passed away at 8:10 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at The Carpenter House.

Mrs. Therese was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, where she served as a Lector and was involved in the Widow’s Support Group. She enjoyed reading, dancing and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters Cindy P. Myers and husband, Armand Jr. of New Iberia and Julie P. Briley and husband, Brian, of Opelousas; four sons Gene Picard and Cynthia Talley of New Iberia, Vernon Picard and wife, Kate, of Lafayette, Clay Picard and wife, Vonnie, of Rayne and Glen Picard of Gonzales; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild on the way.

She is also survived by her wonderful caregiver Becky Frederick and loving member of our extended family Eugene “Geno” LaBiche.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Willday J. Picard; second husband, George Peltier Sr.; parents, Clay and Julieanne Legnon Theriot; daughter Ellen P. Hebert and her husband, Kerry; daughter-in-law Kimberly S. Picard; sister Mary Letress Theriot; and brother Joseph “Chip” Theriot.

Pallbearers will be Gene Picard, Vernon Picard, Clay Picard, Glen Picard, Armand Myers Jr. and Brian Briley.
