State, city pact to help ‘pocket park’

The New Iberia City Council will vote to approve a resolution authorizing the mayor to sign an agreement between the state and city for the Bayou Teche Museum expansion and George Rodrigue Park at Tuesday’s meeting.

The resolution allows New Iberia Mayor Freddie DeCourt to sign an agreement with the state of Louisiana Office of Facility Planning and Control for the Bayou Teche Museum expansion of the Doc Voorhies Wing.

It also will provide for capital outlay funds for the George Rodrigue Park next to the museum.

The City Council also will vote on a resolution giving a notice of intention to levy taxes in the Louisiana 14 Economic District No. 1. Once approved, the tax would be set at a rate up to 2 percent. The resolution would essentially turn on the tax financing increments, or TIFF dollars in the district.

Another resolution will award a bid to Gulf Coast Underground LLC for sewer system improvements for the Hopkins Street Area Project.

The council will vote to award a quote of $8,945 for upgrades to the CCTV system at the Sucrose Drive Wastewater Treatment Plant, Tete Bayou Wastewater Treatment Plant and Armenco Drainage Pump Station.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at New Iberia City Hall.
