LSWA Class 2A All-State Baseball/Softball Teams

A trio of Loreauville Tigers and a Catholic High standout slugger earned spots on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class 2A All-State baseball and softball teams.

Loreauville Lady Tigers pitcher Alyssa Soileau, who will be continuing her career at LSUA next season, was joined by junior Lexi McLin. Soileau and McLin helped guide LHS to a repeat Division III quarterfinals appearance, losing 4-1 to eventual runners-up Doyle.

Catholic High’s Kenley Sonnier earned a place on the All-State team as an outfielder, but her performances on offense were even more impressive. The eighth grader finished the season with a .709 batting average, 19 home runs and 65 RBIs.

Loreauville baseball’s Eli FInley also earned All-State honors. Finley and the rest of the Tigers concluded a 17-12 regular season with a dramatic three-game win over No. 8 Rosepine before falling to eventual Division III champions South Beauregard in the quarters.

Calvary’s Ramsey Walker and St. Charles’ Brady St. Pierre earned Most Outstanding Player honors in Class 2A softball and baseball, respectively, by the LSWA. Houma Christian softball’s Christi Crowdus and Oak Grove baseball’s Ty Rollinson were named as the Coaches of the Year.

Walker played a vital role in the Lady Cavaliers winning their fourth championship in a row by hitting .583 with 22 home runs and 65 RBI. This year’s win gives the Arkansas signee two Most Outstanding Player awards in the last three years – having won the Class 1A Most Outstanding Player in 2022.

Crowdus guided the Lady Crusaders to the Division III select championship game for their first title game appearance in 15 years, when they were in Class B. Houma Christian went 23-10 behind All-State duo Hailey Henry and Jaydn Yesso.

St. Pierre kept up his status as a big game pitcher by leading the Comets to their fourth straight title game appearance. He went 8-1 with 72 strikeouts, a 1.17 ERA and a .143 opposing batting average this season. With his 1-0 win over Menard in the Division III select semifinals, St. Pierre closed his career with a perfect 9-0 record in postseason play.

Rollinson’s Tigers also know what it is like to play and win in Sulphur. With its win in the Division IV non-select championship, Oak Grove’s seniors celebrated their fourth straight title, while juniors Seth Ray and Jackson Bradley earned first team All-State recognition.
