CHS wins high school golf match
Catholic High easily won an Acadiana Area High School Golf League match Thursday at Squirrel Run with a 166 team total to outpace Opelousas Catholic at 217 total and Basile came in at 234.
ESA, St. Edmund’s and Comeaux High also sent golfers to the match but none of those squads had enough participants to compete for team honors.
ESA’s Alex Billeaud took home individual low medalist honors with a 35 total over the nine-hole competition. Harry West of St. Ed’s finished with a 37 and Saylor Tibbs led CHS with a 39.
Also scoring for the Panthers were Nick Davis and Seth Breaux, each at 42, and Asa Tibbs at 43.
Sam Castille shot a 53 and Adam Trahan a 54 for ESA.
Christian Miller led OC with a round of 47. John Paul Braham finished at 50, Lane Darby at 59 and Luke Vidrine at 61. Alex Castillo had a 62 that did not count toward team totals.
Basile was paced by Jacob Guillory with a 52, followed by Logan May at 53, Brett Ledoux at 60 and Kanen Vidrine at 69.
Murphy Richard carded a 60 and ALec Fontenot a 67 for St. Ed’s.
Haden Savoy led Comeuax with a 47, followed by Nick Hutson at 61 and Dylan Mcguire at 67.
Vieux Chenes
YOUNGSVILLE — Ascension Episcopal placed first in a golf match at Les Vieux Chenes Golf Course Thursday, shooting a team total 157 to outpace St. Thomas More at 164 and Teurlings Catholic at 169.
Notre Dame, Erath and Vermilion Catholic also sent golfers to the match but did not have enough participants to score in the team competition.
Matt Weber of STM had the low round of the match with a 36, followed by Eli Ortego and Jude Ardoin of AES, each at 38.
Jay Mendell (40) and Cannon Clark (41) also scored for AES with Bode Hinds finishing at 43 but not counting toward team totals.
Thomas Morton finished with a 39 for STM, followed by Andrew Mouton at 44 and Trevor Robertson at 45. Sam Stonecipher’s 47 did not count toward team totals.
Drew Reaux led TCHS with a 39, followed by Cameron Mouton at 42, Lain Letchworth at 43 and Alex Sylvester at 45. Michael Boudreaux’s 46 did not count toward team totals.
Erath’s Ethan Trangmar shot a 63. Alex Foreman had a round of 49 for Notre Dame. VC’s Zack Smith came in at 53 and Colby Boudreaux at 55.
