CHS boys, girls fall in jamboree

Both the Catholic High boys’ and girls’ basketball teams fell in the All-Catholic Jamboree held at CHS Thursday.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Panthers dropped a 33-25 decision to Teurlings while in the boys’ game, it was St. Thomas More taking a 45-31 decision over the Panthers.

The Catholic High girls open the 2018-19 campaign Wednesday when they play host to Breaux Bridge at 5:30 p.m.

The Catholic High boys begin play Monday, Nov. 19 at the Ascension Episcopal Tournament.

Teurlings 33, Catholic High 25

Madison Bienvenu scored 13 points and Lauren Bonin added seven as the Lady Panthers held a 14-12 lead at halftime of the jamboree contest but Teurlings pulled away in the second half for the 33-25 win.

Lizzy Ratliff led TCHS with 12 points, Leigh Labrie added nine for the Lady Rebels.

Anna Gonsoulin added three points for CHS.

St. Thomas More 45, Catholic High 31

Reece Melanson and Jaden Shelvin each had 11 points as St. Thomas More jumped out to a 24-7 first half lead and cruised to the 45-31 win over the Panthers.

Brayllon Logan added seven for the Cougars.

For CHS, Kolbe Chretien led the way with a game-high 16 points while Javian Willis and Preston Cestia each had five points in the loss.
