Mystic Krewe de Fou celebrates RIO CARNIVAL
Mystic Krewe de Fou celebrated it’s 21st anniversary with the theme of “Rio Carnival,” undoubtedly the biggest attraction on earth. Visitors from around the world flock to Rio each year for a week of dancing, singing and partying. To vibe with the rhythm of the samba, the only place to be is the Rio Carnival, celebrated in just about every state in Brazil. While each celebration is exciting and wonderful, none of them can equal the amazing extravaganza that is the Carnival in Rio, the best time to experience the Brazilian culture. Since 1984, the carnival parade has been held every year at the Sambadrome where 12 of the top samba schools vie for the prestigious championship title.
Reigning over the Mystic Krewe de Fou of Iberia Bal Masque XXI were King Dom Pedro II and Queen Teresa Christina, Jeff and Sharon Richard Jolet.
Representing Beija Flor Samba School’s theme “Exotic Birds,” as the Scarlet Macaw and the Peacock, were captains James and Paula Dautreuil Arceneaux who opened the bal masque with the traditional blowing of the whistle. The Royal Court for King Dom and Queen Teresa represented the Samba Schools of the Rio Carnival Sambadrome Parade.
This year Mystic Krewe de Fou proudly recognized the 2019 Goodwill Ambassador Hayward “Moose” Bonin Jr. and outstanding members of the community, the 2019 Queen Mothers Debra Savioe and Laura Lanclos LaBiche.
Mystic Krewe de Fou 2019 Young Ambassadors are Vivian Kate Arrant daughter of Chad and Meg Arrant and Jayden Joseph Menard son of Trent and Dawn Menard.
