He will await the resurrection in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Number One Cemetery in New Iberia (Freetown community).

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Home 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 9 a.m.

A resident of New Iberia, Mack departed his earthly life at his residence surrounded by family.

Mack, as he was commonly known to family and friends, was born on September 9, 1949, to the late Whitney Sam Brown and the late Evola Batiste Brown. He was a 1967 graduate of Jonas Henderson High School. He enjoyed getting together for class reunions and still remained very close to some of his class members.

In 1969, Mack joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He was extremely proud of being a member of the corps. After being honorably discharged from the corps, he returned to New Iberia and received a certificate in welding and began working as a water well welder. After 20 years as a welder, he began driving trucks nationwide. Mack could direct you across the country with just a mile marker number.

He leaves to mourn his passing and in God’s care, his loving wife, Sara Lewis Brown; his children Amanda Carrier, Brenda Brown, Sandra (Cornell) Dean, Montiego Ledet, Earl Quinton (Destinie) Ledet, Lawanda Brown, Earl Brown Jr. and Theo Brown. Survivors also include his siblings Jude (Alberta) Norbert, Otis Brown, Frank Brown, Linda Brown, Debra (John) Derouen and Theresa Brown; his mother in-law Fabiola Lewis; and in-laws Helen Joyce Brown, Cynthia Johnson, Anthony Faulk, Paula (Carlton) Smith, Walter (Elaine) Lewis, Michael Lewis, Mary Lewis and Lillian (Ricky) Gary; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Mack was preceded in death by his father and mother; his brother Melvin Brown Sr.; and his father in-law George Lewis Sr.
