What’s Appening: Fit For You
By Gail Suberbielle
Carrot Fit®

This app uses a radically different approach for fitness, one not for the faint of heart. Carrot Fit, which calls itself “your judgmental fitness overlord,” employs more of a “drill sergeant” approach for its hardcore seven-minute workouts, laden with heavy sarcasm and “smack talk.” Workouts consist of a dozen 30-second workouts, with a 10-second rest period in between. With exercises like “Mt. Doom Climbs,” “Dragon Mating Dances,” and “Celebrity Face Punches,” laugh your way into shape (if you can breathe enough to laugh). Cost: $2.99, with an upgrade of 12 more exercises available.
Human®

There are so many fitness apps out there that we can sometimes be overwhelmed by the sheer number. We really like the unique concept of the Human app, which helps inspire users to move just 30 consecutive minutes a day. Human will track your movements, whether you’re biking, running, walking, or even dancing. Human is not a step counter, but instead tracks your “active minutes.” Users are notified when they reach goals, such as your Daily 30, 60, or 90, and the app is accompanied by beautiful photography. Cost: Free.
