By Gail Suberbielle

Withbr thousands of apps out there for your smartphone or tablet, it can be brhard to make a choice without cluttering up your phone or cutting into bryour wallet with apps you’ll never use. We will be highlighting a few ofbr our favorites every month. Here are two featured in our April issue. Tobr see all of the featured apps, pick up this month’s issue of Acadiana brLifeStyle.

Stylish Girl®

One of our new favorites, this app lets you create a virtual closet of the items in your own wardrobe. Snap pictures of your own clothes, and you have your own wardrobe inventory! From there you can create outfits, plan what you’re wearing on your next trip (simply add the items to your “suitcase”), or go to the Fashion Lounge, where you can get inspired by what other Fashionistas are wearing. You can even share your outfits and clothes with friends via e-mail or social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. Of course, the app also allows you to shop for the perfect shoes to go with your outfit through shopstyle.com. Cost: Free.

Fitocracy®

Sometimes a different tactic helps us to reach our fitness goals more readily, and Fitocracy may be just the ticket. Using game-like stats to help motivate users, Fitocracy allows you to track your workouts – just like other apps – but with this fun and unique approach, you can earn points, compete against other users, and unlock achievements. Users work through various levels and are motivated by the number of points they earn and the levels they can attain. Whether you’re serious about competing with others or just want to challenge yourself, this app’s fun new approach could be just what you need to get you off that couch. Cost: Free
