ABBEVILLE — A Home-going celebration will be held for George Readom Jr., 94, at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Lighthouse for Jesus Ministries with Rev. Gerry Young officiating.

He will await the resurrection at Pleasant Green Cemetery in Abbeville.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 8 a.m Saturday at the church until time of service.

A native and resident of Abbeville, he passed away at 5:55 p.m. Thursday, November 23, 2017, at Abbeville General Hospital.

He leaves to cherish his fond memory two daughters Rose Readom of Abbeville and Mary Green (Norris) of Erath; four sons Frank Readom of Abbeville, John Readom of Cottonport, Leon Readom of Washington, DC and James Readom of Germany, LA; thirty-three grandchildren; sixty-four great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Readom; parents, George Readom Sr. and Rose Ella Brailey Readom; one daughter Sally Readom; two sons George Readom III and Israel Readom; four sisters Audrey W. Robinson, Lucille Wimbly Broussard, Alma W. Guidry and Edna W. Harris; six brothers Calvin Campbell, Eddie Thomas, Joseph Wilson, Willie Readom, Marshall Readom and Whitney Wilson.

Active pallbearers will be Reginald Readom, Micah Readom, De’Mario Green, Norris Green Jr., Nathan Green and Jonathan Green.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Readom, John Readom, Leon Readom, James Readom, Lloyd Rankin Sr., Rayward Stewart, Michael Stewart, Norris Green Sr. and Brady Broussard.
