MAD schedules aerial mosquito spraying dates
The Iberia Mosquito Abatement District will conduct aerial operations this week after monitoring recent mosquito populations.
According to Director Herff Jones, the district will spray Thursday and Friday evenings, weather permitting. Thursday’s operations are scheduled to be conducted in New Iberia and on Friday they will target Grand Marais.
The district asks residents in those areas to wear repellent, cover exposed skin and avoid outdoor activities when mosquitoes are most active. If weather conditions are favorable, spraying will begin at sunset and last 1 1/2 hours each night.
Thursday, spraying operations will target in Acadian Acres, Pesson, City Park and Belle Place. Specifically, it will include Darby Lane, Leon Landry, Jules Road, North Freyou Road and all points in between.
Friday’s spraying operations will include Rynella, Migues, Laurent, Lydia, Weeks Island, College, Collins, Cora Lane and all points in between.
