New Iberia Police have warrants out for February murder
NEW IBERIA — Police have named a suspect and arrested an accomplice in the February shooting death of a 25-year-old city man.
New Iberia Police Department on Tuesday obtained warrants for Jarason Joseph Provost, 20, who is wanted for second-degree murder and Kyshion Drekvant Vital, 22, who was wanted for principal to second-degree murder.
Vital was taken into custody Wednesday and committed to Iberia Parish Jail.
Provost remains on the loose and police are hoping the public can help locate him.
Provost and Vital are accused of murdering Denzel Matthews, 25, of New Iberia on Feb. 1. Matthews was found dead inside a residence in the 1500 block of Montagne St. Police at the time said there were no signs of forced entry, leading detectives to believe the victim and suspects knew each other.
