Iberia Parish students earn top level on career readiness certificates
Sixty Iberia Parish students earned a platinum level National Career Readiness Certificate during the 2018-2019 school year.
According to Chris Broussard with the Iberia Parish Career Center, the platinum level is the highest level of achievement that can be issued by the ACT. Students can earn an NCRC certificate by successfully completing three WorkKeys Assessments.
The assessments are designed to measure foundational, personal and world skills as they apply to all occupations.
The Iberia Parish School Board partners with the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce and other community organizations on the Work Ready Community Initiative. Annually, Iberia tests hundreds of students (emerging employees) on the WorkKeys assessments.
Iberia Parish elementary, middle and high schools have all committed to be industry partners that will recognize the NCRC during hiring practices as well, according to a prepared statement.
Iberia Parish School Board representatives also have served on the initiatives founding task force since its inception in 2018 along with the current chamber chairman and local businesses.
