West St. Mary High School will graduate 69 students
BALDWIN — Sixty-nine students will receive their diplomas during Thursday’s commencement ceremonies at West St. Mary High School.
Thursday’s commencement exercises will take place at 6 p.m. in the school’s competition gym. Among the graduates this year are 13 Summa Cum Laudes who have maintained a 3.75 to a 4.0 grade point average.
The top honor recipients include the following…
J’Iana Abraham, daughter of Jondalyn Abraham, who is graduating with a 3.789 GPA.
Her extracurricular activities include National Honor Society, Volleyball, Literary Rally Team and JAG Career Association
Abraham plans to attend University of Louisiana at Lafayette and major in psychology.
Kayla Barbo, daughter of Charlie and Christina Barbohas a 3.900 GPA. Barbo’s extracurricular activities include the National Honor Society and JAG Career Association
Barbo plans to attend Omega School of Cosmetology.
Tayla Bernauer , daughter of Natalie Vilcan and Shane Bernauer is a member of the National Honor Society, Literary Rally Team, Beta Club and JAG Career Association and has maintained a GPA of 3.8276.
Bernauer plans to attend University of Louisiana at Lafayette majoring in elementary education. Mackenzie Daggett , daughter of Tina Daggett and Leroy Daggett has maintained a 3.9365 GPA. Her extracurricular activities include National Honor Society, Literary Rally Team, Beta Club and Rotary New Generations
Daggett plans to attend South Louisiana Community College for two years and then transfer to Northwestern State University to major in secondary education
Raelyn Dupre, daughter of Jenny Dupre and Edward Eiseman is one of only four students in her graduating class to maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout her high school career.
Her extracurricular activities include Beta Club, Rotary Club, Literary Rally Team, Accelerated Reader (AR), Softball and Volleyball Team She also received the LHSAA All Academic State Volleyball Team Award.
Dupre plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to earn her Masters in Nursing with a Psych Specialty.
Shatanica Gibson, daughter of Jessie and Lisa Gibson, is a member of the JROTC Physical Fitness Team, an Army Instructor Assistant in Army JROTC, a member of Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG), St. Mary Parish Shining Star and was a candidate for Student of the Year all while maintaining a 3.85 GPA.
Gibson plans to enlist in the U.S, Air Force and become a Neurological Surgeon and OB GYN.
Camryn Guillote is one of four 4.0 GPA graduates and is the daughter of Heath Guillote and Melissa Sinitiere.
Guillote’s extracurricular activities include National Honors Society, Literary Rally Team, Beta Club and softball team.
Guillote plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Biology before becoming a Physician Assistant.
Carion’tae Harris daughter of Carrie Lee Harris and Herman Scott is wrapping up her high school career with a 3.9655 GPA. Her extracurricular Activities involve the National Honors Society, Literary Rally Team, Beta Club, JAG Career Association and FBLA
Harris plans to attend a university in General Studies. She is still researching her options. Ledonti Robertson – Ledonti Demon Robertson son of Candi Broussard and DeJohn Robertson is ending his high school career with a 3.7879 GPA.
His extracurricular activities included National Honor Society, Football, and Basketball
Robertson plans to attend Louisiana Tech and major in Business Management
Tajhia Tillman daughter of Agia Maze Doaty and Maurice Doaty, has a 3.8286 GPA. Her high school interests included Dazzling Diamonds, 4-H, Beta, FBLA, JAG Career Association, Junior Class President and Senior Class Vice-President
Tillman plans to attend Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana to major in Early Child Development.
HannahVerret, daughter of Patrick and Tiffany Verret is one of four graduates with a 4.0 GPA whose interests include softball team, National Honors Society, Beta Club, as well as Literary Rally Team and Quiz Bowl
Verret plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and earn a bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Mary Wells daughter of Janet Wells and Terry Gibbs Sr has a 3.9333 grade point average. Her activities included National Honor Society, Literary Rally, JAG Career Association, Student of the Year nominee, FBLA, 4-H, Beta, Renaissance, Literary Rally, President of JAG Career Association, and vice-president of Junior class.
Wells plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she will earn a Bachelor of Biology with a Pre-medicine concentration. She is aspiring to become an ER physician. She is also a recipient of the Horatio Alger State Scholarship valued at $10,000.00.
Kayla Wesley daughter of Kimberly Ballet and Garland Wesley, is also one of the four WSM graduates to finish with a 4.0 GPA.
Her extracurricular activities include National Honor Society, Literary Rally, JAG Career Association, Beta, Literary Rally, Renaissance,and FBLA
Wesley plans to attend a post-secondary school majoring in the medical field. Kayla is still pondering her options.
Along with the 13 Summa Cum Laude graduates, West St Mary will honor 10 Magna Cum Laude graduates with a GPA of 3.5 to 3.749 and 11 Cum Laude who maintained a 3.00 to 3.49 grade point average.
