Dudley J. Landry

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 23, 2018, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in New Iberia for Dudley J. Landry, 86, who passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018, in New Iberia.

Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery, with military honors by the Iberia Honor guard.

Rev. Keith Landry will be the Celebrant. The readings will be proclaimed by Seth Landry and Samantha Landry. Family members will serve as gift bearers.

A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 6:30 pm Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

A native of Abbeville and a longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Landry was born on January 17, 1932, to the late Paul and Evena Broussard Landry. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served our country during the Korean War, and was a former member of the American Legion. Mr. Landry worked as a carpenter, and also as a security guard at Dauterive Hospital. In addition, he worked with Operation Impact on the renovation of downtown New Iberia. An avid gardener, Mr. Landry also enjoyed raising and training dogs, and volunteering with the Pink Ladies. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. 

Survivors include his sons, Paul Landry and companion Lisa Devillier of New Iberia, and Patrick Landry and wife Lisa of New Iberia; daughter, Pam Landry Lenoir and husband Bruno of New Iberia; sister, Betty Schexnayder of Kaplan; sister-in-law, Leanna Landry of Abbeville; brother-in-law, Roy Broussard of Lafayette; grandchildren, Seth Landry and wife Malerie, Nicholas Landry and wife Dani, Samantha Landry and companion Dale Huxller, Stephen Lambert and wife Mandy,and  Amanda Guilbeaux and husband Kyle, Lisa Burgardt and husband Jake; great grandchildren, Brielle Landry, Connor Landry, Hazel Landry, Wyatt Lambert, Charlie Jane Guilbeaux, and Memphis Guilbeaux; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Letha Jane Hanks Landry; sisters, Verline Broussard and Audrey Harrington; twin brother, Dudless Landry; brothers-in-law, Bobby Harrington and Percy Schexnayder; and a granddaughter, Sara Lambert.

Pallbearers will be Bruno Lenoir, Seth Landry, Nick Landry, Stephen Lambert, Kyle Guilbeaux and Jake Burgardt.

Honorary pallbearers include Amanda Guilbeaux, Lisa Burgardt, Samantha Landry and Wendell Guidry.

The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice Compassus, especially Megan Hays and Bronlyn Schaff, for their care and compassion.
