Jones, Wiltz claim win at Henderson
HENDERSON — Coteau Bass Hustlers member Jason Jones and his guest, Jake Wiltz, claimed a narrow victory in the bass club’s fifth tournament of 2018.
Jones and Wiltz put four bass, one short of a limit, on the scale after the tournament May 12. The 4.87-pound reading was just enough to finish ahead of the rest of the seven-boat field that fished the tough tournament on the St. Martin Parish lake that has been unfishably high most of the year.
They needed every fraction of an ounce to finish ahead of Marlin Hebert and Doyle Louviere, whose three bass weighed 4.62 pounds, good enough for second place. Hebert and Louviere also boasted the tournament’s biggest bass, a 2.85-pounder.
Blaine Miller and Robbie Mayer finished third with four bass weighing 4.32 pounds.
Four of the seven boats weighed in had at least one keeper bass.
