Jerry F. Landry Jr.

Funeral services will be held for Mr. Jerry F. “Jay” Landry Jr., 62, on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at 2 p.m. at David’s Funeral Chapel with Fr. Brent Smith celebrating the services. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m., with a recitation of the Rosary at 11 a.m. 

Mr. “Jay,” as he was affectionately known, passed away at 10:22 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at The Carpenter House. 

Upon graduating from Jeanerette High School, Mr. Jay chose to serve his community as a first responder. He went to work for Acadian Ambulance as an Emergency Medical Technician. He would later advance in his career to become a paramedic and also a dispatcher. He was a loyal employee that devoted over 20 years to his community through Acadian Ambulance. His hobbies were cooking Cajun food, especially his gumbo, and collecting guns. He also really enjoyed drinking Community Coffee and loving on his dogs. However his passion in life was his family, including his Acadian Ambulance family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mrs. Sheila Smith Landry; his daughter Stephanie Landry of New Iberia; son Beau Landry and wife, Chelsie, of Parks; his mother Lousie Derise Landry; sisters Dawn Hunt and Laura Liotta; brother Brett Landry and wife, Jennifer; brother-in-law Raymond Smith and his wife, Carol; sisters-in-law Sandra Upton and Marie Olson; brother-in-law Chad Smith and wife, Karen; his aunt Helen Landry; cousin Charlie Cormier; friend Melena Landry; and all of his dear friends at Acadian Ambulance. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry F. Landry Sr.; grandparents, Gertrude and Eli Derise; grandparents, Mae and Dumas Landry; uncle Richard Landry; brother-in-law Bill Smith. 

Upholding the honor of pallbearers will be his colleagues from Acadian Ambulance, Jon Scott, Howard Landry, Bart Savoy, David Roy, Randy Quebedeaux and Paul Chustz.
