Darlene Gaspard
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Darlene M. Gaspard, 61, who passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017, at her home.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday and will continue on Thursday at 8 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Rev. Bill Melancon will be the celebrant.
Private entombment will follow at a later date.
A native of Port Arthur, Texas and longtime resident of New Iberia, Darlene M. Gaspard was born on March 12, 1956, to the late Louis and Noemie Broussard Mallet. She graduated from Kaplan High School, and was an avid Saints and LSU Football fan. She loved children and was a babysitter for many years. Darlene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Brad Gaspard; daughter Dawn Migues and Brett Freyou; three granddaughters Morgan, Magan and Mallory Migues, all of New Iberia; a brother Ron Mallet and wife, Tata, of Houston; mother-in-law Mae Rose Gaspard of Kaplan; her dearest friend Shelly Albert and husband, Lawrence, of New Iberia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Mallet; and a godchild Toby Mallet.
Pallbearers will be Todd Mallet, Brett Freyou, Daniel Migues, Michael LeBlanc and Lawrence Albert.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers at Lourdes Home Health, especially Nicole and to the staff of Hospice of Acadiana, especially Seth, Melissa and Carolyn for taking such excellent care of Darlene.
